NAME
Aka Shinsei, Bloody Rebirth.APPEARANCE
In its sealed form, Aka Shinsei takes the form of a plain, carbon steel sword. Sharp, and exactly 24.562 inches long from the handle to the tip; Ryu measured it herself.
Released, Ryu's Zanpakuto becomes a melded steel helmet, shaped perfectly to her head, and holding in her hair. Attached to the top, and irremovable by anyone aside from herself, are three blades, oddly shaped, but put to good use with her shikai, each eight inches long. The blades are not meant to be held by hand. They are razor sharp on all sides, and bear no handle whatsoever. Merely sharpened slices of metal able to be shot at high speeds.
The colors within the helmet are very representative, melding colors from both herself and her zanpakuto's spirit. It is thought that her zanpakuto becomes a helmet to protect her knowledge, something Saa holds very dear. Protect the mind at all costs. The helmet itself refuses anyone acces to her mind, and will continue to do so until it is sealed once more.
The purple of the feather and the hair of the female head are representative of her own hair, which is contained within the helmet, and the purple in the eye and other various places is the same as her eyes exactly. The blue and yellow tones within the helmet are representative of Saa himself, the blue of his body and the yellow of his wings. The rest is bright white, representative of a childlike innocence and curiosity.
Her neck is also protected with durable yet ductile sheets of metal. The sheets allow total, unhindered movement, but also protect completely. Her ears are sealed within, but she can still hear everything around her.
Ryu's "use your head" techniques are somewhat reckless and not very practical, but in a time of need they can suffice. She will either ram her head into the opponent, or make a slice at them with the blades. If the blades have already been removed and not replaced, blunt force will be used with the metal.
Being released, a bright and blinding flash of light will burst momentarily as the white form is melded to her head. The lightweight item shines brightly, and the feather lifts and blows with the wind. With the incantation, Saa's mind is connected with Ryu's and the two share thoughts. With this, Ryu reflects much of Saa's elegant and brave demeanor, speaking more articulately and holding herself more poised and focused than normal.MANIFESTATION
Saa: Image.
Saa is a very wise and old spirit. A long time he has waited to be able to be with Ryu. Through many rebirths and past lives he has waited for the time when she would be strong enough to be with him.
He is a creature without reason, needs, or wants. Without purpose in existence he has learned many things, useless or vital, that make him the wise being he is. From the beginning of time he has wandered this vast universe, searching for answers, and finding them. Nearly omniscient, the god of inherent knowing holds such a vast amount of knowledge that he rarely speaks. When he does, it is in spall bits, or wise quips. He speaks little, for fear his knowledge will slip away. In his mind, anything spoken is lost to eternity, and never existed at all.
Throughout his existence he has kept a continuing log of his findings, all of which are written in code within Ryu’s everyday writings and findings. The actual code is unknown to all but Saa. His wisdom and knowledge surpass anything ever known, but he is not one to share that knowledge with anyone. His memory and capabilities are unfathomable. One could not think to imagine how far his knowledge goes, for fear that they may learn of something they may not want to know. Omniscience is a rough and tiresome road. Knowing everything is not all as it seems.
Nightmares of the future and destruction flood the mind of the inner god. Not once has he had a nights sleep without being aroused from a terror of death and decay, some of which is history, others created from the workings of the human mind, which Saa has mastered completely. Bloodlust is high on most minds in the human species, and the nightmarish things he has seen in those minds he has come in contact with are far from pretty, and worse than gruesome.
Saa rues the day he began to study into humans, but he cannot forget. Nothing can take away the things he has seen and felt. The body in which he resides is of no total purity either.
Aside from the negative, Saa also has an optimistic side, which is actually his prominent side. Saa loves riddles. And jokes. He is also fascinated with butterflies, keeping several specimens around him at all times. He has quite the sense of humor, though no one really gets to see it. He is rather lonely most times, even knowing that there are people all around him, he cannot meet them. His somewhat grotesque figure would intimidate many humans, he knows. Thus he will not leave his home unless he is called or knows things will be fine.
In appearance, Saa is rather odd-looking. Resembling a giraffe with more prehistoric features, and several thin and wing-like spines along his back and tail, which bear a resemblance to that which dragonfly wings are made of. When looked at in-total, he is rather beautiful. Thin swirls of an extremely smooth material grow off of his body in several areas, many decorating his head along with more of the wing-like projections.
His skin is a blend of violets and light blue hues. It is shiny and smooth, much like the skin of a frog, though not slimy at all. At the base of his skull, the skin fades thinner and thinner until it is no more, and what remains is his actual skull. Exposed bone is grotesque looking. His sinuses are visible and his eyeballs sit gently within the empty sockets. As they move, the muscle beneath can be seen. Ever-watchful eyes never blink, and they never miss a thing. The actual eye is completely blue on all sides, and holds no pupil. He can see in every direction comfortably.
Neck is long and magnificent, making him appear regal and valiant. Long legs and arms are also expressive of his importance. Tridactyl hands and feet adorn them. Standing on his back legs, his shoulders reach to thirty four feet, give or take a few inches. Including his neck and head, he stretches to fifty seven. He will only do this on rare occasions, and typically stays on all fours at twenty three feet. He will stand in the rare instances that he must either intimidate or impress.INNER WORLD
Tomo’s inner world is a vast universe. There aren’t any planets, but there are stars, and this is where her zanpakuto spirit resides. Saa enjoys moving the stars to create shapes, and there are many interesting constellations he has created that are visible in the area.
Saa himself lives on the largest and whitest star there is. It is beautiful and magnificent, and does not burn. His butterflies live off of the light that it gives them, and are even created from it as wisps of solid light floating through the abyss. The inner world has no beginning and end, and it is thought that if you go far enough to one end, you will return the complete opposite side, only to return to where you were.
It is very large, and very empty. Saa has visited and named every star in the universe there, but his own he calls "Domi," or "Home." For the most part, he covers this star with the visual of a large grassy field, with clouds and a moon, resembling the earth Ryu comes from. When Ryu visits, this is typically what she sees. This is Tomoko's inner world.RELEASE PHRASE
Redeem, Aka Shinsei!ABILITIES
Appearance.
The female's long purple hair is a noticeable feature to be sure. Held back in a low ponytail on her neck, her hair frames her face with long bangs and a far-right part. It is incredibly light, and will float around in even a light breeze. It is naturally this color, and while she is unsure why, she enjoys it just the same.
Her eyes are the same hue as her hair, and are large, but usually held in a calculated glance, slightly lidded and cautious. Brows are short and angled, and her nose is small and curved a bit upward. Her lips are thin but full, and her teeth are clean and white. She smiles a lot more than her usual stare allows one to think.
She wears the typical shinigami uniform, the black kimoni with the white underclothing, along with the usual white sash belt, though adds her own touch with a long green sash around her back and hanging off her hip. This sash is tied just so as to carry her Zanpakuto sheathed upon her back. It is tilted to the right as the female is left handed and this makes for easier grabbing.
Her feet are covered with the typical socks and sandals all the shinigami wear, though beneath is not to be expected, for the female has brightly painted toenails in a green color, the same will be found on her fingernails.
History.
LIFE
At birth, the little blonde girl was ill, and would continue to be far into her early years. This bedridden time was spent with her nanny, who would read to her from her parents books. Her parents were both in the medical fields. Her father a neurosurgeon, and her mother a pediatrician. She had it in her blood to hold knowledge. That was just genetics. She began to memorize books, and with much testing, it was found she retained a photographic memory.
It was with this memory that Ryu would succeed in her school years. She made few friends during this time, merely being satisfied with a single friend. Her name was Yana, and she was a grade below Ryu. They had met at lunch in elementary school in Ryu's third year. She usually sat alone, but when a red-headed new girl with large glasses and a pristine uniform sat down beside her, she found it hard not to be nice. The second grader had just transferred to her school. Her uniform was brand new, with no changes yet made to it. She looked like... a nerd.
Ryu had no qualms, however, as she herself was a nerd, just not as noticeably. For her own uniform, she had chosen to stitch green and purple into the hems of her skirt and shirt, including swirls and DNA double helices. Her socks were also purple. It was one of her favorite colors, aside from green. She wore it mostly because it stood out more than green.
Being a sickly child, Ryu was not allowed to go over to Yana's house. Yana had to go over to her house, and they could not leave the premises. The nanny was there to watch over them as they played quietly. Yana never minded. She was just happy to have a friend.
One day, Ryu's parents came home together while Yana was over. Not only was it strange that they were home, but that they were home together made it just weird. Now in the 5th grade, Ryu was about to change schools and be away from Yana for a year school-wise. Today had been the last day of school, so they were both a bit saddened. But the news that came soon after was from her parents, and the reason they were home so early, and the reason they had been gone all the time for so long. They had a treatment for Ryu.
Some concoction of steroids, antibiotics, and a stimulant were all it took to bring out the true personality of the Ryu hidden beneath the illness. Whereas before she had been quiet and reserved, never showing much emotion, especially not a smile, she was now full of happiness, as a child should be. And now that her parents were home more, she was even happier. Not only that, but she could leave her house outside of school. Her and Yana had a little less to worry about now, which was great.
LIVING IT
Ryu was soon enrolled in the accelerated courses in her new school. Her new uniform had already been altered by her nanny, and now included a purple and green striped tie and a gray vest. Her new demeanor gained her many more friends, and a popularity all her own. She was eccentric, and odd, but fun and cool all the same. Finally she was popular in some fashion.
Ryu and her new friends all hung out often, but she never forgot to include Yana. She had been there from the beginning, and with Ryu's new self, Yana was a different being too. She too had broken her shell. Through middle school and onto high school, Ryu and her friends were a clique. They had parties and dreamed of going to college and had study sessions. Her grades never suffered through all of this. Somehow she was able to do everything and never be fazed by multitasking her life.
The first year of high school was rougher than she'd have liked. Again, Yana was left a year behind herself, and most of her friends had gone to other schools. Ryu had been placed in a school for the gifted. Her genius was beginning to become a bother. But she kept on. No sense in ruining what you have for what you want and don't need. She had the top grades of her school, made records on the track team, and was class president, as well as valedictorian for her graduating class.
Ryu had it good. Maybe too good.
ALL GOOD THINGS MUST END
It was the summer after graduation. Ryu was getting ready for college, buying things for her new dorm and such. Things were going to be great. Yana would be joining her as her roommate the following semester, she would be graduating early from her own school. Things were just too good. Little did she know, old grudges die hard.
Ryu was a nice person. Only once in her life was she rude, and that was to someone who was rude to Yana. Her protective nature overtook her and she lashed out at a boy named Takeo. He had been a snotty nosed brat. Thought he was all that and a bag of chips, and that everyone liked him and thought he was funny. Overweight with a better-than-you attitude that just pissed everyone off. And he was mean as a snake, always with the comebacks. Well, he and Yana had been back and forth over second place in grades, because, really, who could beat the 100% in all marks that Ryu had? No-brainer.
One day he was in a particularly shitty mood and told Yana that she was stupid and shoved her to the floor in the lunch room. The room silenced immediately and everyone turned to see him standing over Yana, yelling obscenities at her and attempting to kick her. That's when Ryu came in. She grabbed the short fat boy by the collar, and inhumanly lifted him off the floor. Angry eyes glaring into his beady ones.
"Takeo. You're fat. You're mean. No one. Likes you."
With that, she dropped the boy to the floor. He fell on his ass and started to sniffle, staring at Ryu angrily. All he could do was run away. He didn't come back to school. There were rumors that he had killed himself, but Ryu figured he wasn't so cowardly. He was really wussy, so she assumed he begged his parents to transfer him.
Never did she think that one moment would come back to haunt her.
Standing in her room, she was packing her clothes. She moved into her new dorm tomorrow morning. There was a click, and she turned to see her bedroom door opening. She smiled, thinking it was Yana coming to say goodbye, she hadn't been by today. Her smile dropped, however, as a skeleton walked through her door, sniffling. As soon as his face rose to face her, she knew who it was. He seemed to have not eaten since she had told him he was fat. A tear rolled down her cheek at the sight of such a sad story.
"Takeo. I never got to apologize--"
"You can't apologize!" A frail and shaky arm raised, holding a gun that seemed much too large for the arm that was holding it. You could tell it was straining the weak muscles just to hold it there. "What you did cannot be forgiven!"
You could tell he was yelling, but what came out was little more than a hoarse, pushed whisper. He was at the end of his road unless someone helped him. She really didn't understand how it had come to this. But after all this time without saying she didn't mean it, he had taken it to heart and was now beyond repair.
"Well I want to say it anyways." Another tear rolled down her cheek as she whispered the words. "I'm sorry."
And then the boy flew backward as the gun went off, hitting Ryu in the head. It had been aimed at her chest, she knew, but his arm simple could not hold any longer, and the gun went off as it lowered, barrel-up. It was a gory sight indeed if someone were to see it. Ryu's parents came home soon. Her soul was gone too early to see their reactions to her death, or to the grotesque creature lying on the floor across from her. She was glad.
She didn't want to see them cry over her.
THE... AFTERLIFE?
Ryu isn't really sure how she got where she is now. One day, she simply woke up in the middle of a forest. She walked for several days, trying to find civilization, if there even was any. Just when she was prepared to be disappointed that there were no other people wherever here was, she saw smoke above the trees. She ran toward it, heart racing and adrenaline pumping. She was starving, and lonely. That was when she ran into the old man.
She bounced straight backward onto the ground, bracing herself with her arms. Damn, that guy was sturdy. He looked so frail and old, yet her full-force attack hadn't even fazed him. Who was this guy?
"You should be more careful with your levels, I've been able to feel your reiatsu for a good ten minutes, and if you've been running like that the whole time, you really need to chill out."
"...What?" Ryu was completely confused. Rayatsoo? What the hell was this geezer going on about? She started talking to the man about where she was and what he was talking about. He told her that he had been a shinigami at one time, back in the good ol' days. A death god?
She was still a bit confused on the whole prospect, but she thought she understood at least a bit more. She really wanted to know all she could about this stuff. The old man offered to take her into town and show her the shinigami academy, as he thought she should join up and try her skills. She agreed, and the edge of town was the last place she saw the old man as he pointed her in the direction of her destination, and turned once more to return to his home in the woods.
Upon receiving acceptance to the academy, she was soon living within the compound, attending her classes as any student should, and finally coming to understand the workings of reiatsu and her abilities as a shinigami. She excelled in all of her classes, studying like crazy and trying to learn all she could about everything. Books helped her learning immensely, as she came to find that her memory was photographic. She nearly succeeded with learning all that she thought was available to herself too, but that was before she was introduced to the library, and then, even greater, the 12th division of shinigami.
The recruiting had begun, and Ryu sat in wait of her requests. It wasn't long before the request arrived at her room. The four girls she resided with all rushed over to see which she had received. Ryu read it and nearly fainted as it was the 12th division that requested her.
"Ryu that is sooooo you." The blond of the room announced to the room, who obviously didn't think of that as they all began to agree and cheer. Ryu was silent as she just reveled in the fact she was in a division. Let alone the one she had preferred. It was fate.[/blockquote]
