Ryu had been lacking in the knowledge section of life lately. She'd been having an inkling to go to the library and read up a bit on some history, get her facts straight. She scoured the shelves looking for the book she so desired. She eventually found it in the archives in the back of the library: old, leather-bound, and dusty, but it the only original copy of the history of the Zanpakuto in the Sereitei.
She took the book to a leather chair, and flipped herself over professionally, hanging her head off of the seat, her hair along the floor as she read sitting upside down in her chair. For some reason this position made for better reading in Ryu's eyes. She flipped the pages madly. She probably looked a bit ridiculous.

The angelic form slowly ran her digts along the books' spines, cerulean hues scanning the words written upon the books. Meimu stopped at a shelf her index finger settling upon one of the books. The Healing Properties of Herbs Found in Soul Society-Was written upon the book's spine. It seemed like a newer edition of the book she was expecting. She would grab the book and swift open the cover reading what was written within the first few pages. She had found the book she was looking for. Placing the book against her chest and walking towards the reading area, the Hakuchou could not stop but notice a girl sitting by her lonesome. Not only did her amethyst locks caught her attention, her position made her look quite... different than all the other readers in the library. Meimu shrugged it off as she approached and sat near her.
''Forgive my interruption but your position will increase the blood flow to your head and soon enough your vision will be blurry.'' The young Hakuchou explained with a slight smile upon her face as she opened the book upon her lap and slowly skimmed through the pages, her fingers running up and down the smooth paper. Her long ivory locks fell to her shoulders and back in perfectly placed curls. Remembering the strict etiquette she had been taught by her family, Meimu spoke again.
''I'm Meimu. Hakuchou, Meimu.'' She added, offering her hand to be shaken. Considering the girl's odd way of placing herself she wondered how the pink-haired shinigami would shake her hand.

The violet haired female heard the approach of another person and her eyes flicked from the pages she was reading to the new person in the vicinity. She smiled as she flipped into an upright standing position in front of the chair she'd been upside down in.
"Yes, yes. I know the forces of gravity and blood pressure and whatnot." She wasn't stupid after all. She was practically the genius. She accepted the outstretched hand and spoke her own name. "Ryu. Matsudaira Ryu. Pleasure to meet you."
With a firm shake, she'd release her new acquaintance's hand. "What are you reading there? I'm just refreshing my knowledge of the history of our Zanpakutos. A bit of light reading before I head back to my room." She held up the incredibly thick book with her left arm with a big smile. The page she had saved was near the end, and she had started from the beginning.

--Forgive the typoes and anything that doesn't make sense, I R TIRED, DODO TIME
Meimu smiled as her handshake was accepted, her fingers closed around Ryu's as they shook on their greeting. Her eyes would dart back to the pages upon her lap, her index finger following every line she read carefully, each word being read and automatically registered in her head. She read slowly yet surely one could say. A specific paragraph caught her attention yet, being the polite girl that she had been brought up to be, the Hakuchou paused her actions to speak with what seemed like quite a nice girl. It seemed as if Ryu had no problem being distrubed during her reading and was actually wanting to strike up a conversation. It was refreshing to the young Hakuchou that someone wanted to have just a nice conversation without necessarily going into the more serious themes usually discussed in Soul Society. You could only hear so much about Hollows and the balance.
''I am actually just reviewing my herbs knowledge, I am part of the 4th Division, I like knowing how to make medicine without always needing to look through books, sometimes you need to act quickly. But I would not know, I am so knew at this.'' Meimu sighed as she flipped more of the pages. Her cerulean hues settled once more upon her interlocutor, wondering what division she was a part of. ''You call that light reading? Really?'' Meimu asked barely believing what Ryu had said. How could she read such a large book and consider it light reading? Meimu would slowly cross her legs as she placed the book upon her thigh her fingers flipping the pages slowly now as she examined the images, in her mind she would recite their names, she had somewhat memorised them all, only a few escaped her mind, if such was the case she would simply read the label beneath the image before continuing to flip the pages.
Meimu enjoyed the library. It was the best of places to simply read without stress, it was oddly silent. Other than Ryu and her own voice the room was completely silent.

She waited for the female to finish what she was reading and reply. It was so nice to see another so avidly compiling their facts and knowledge.
"Herbs? Oh, that sounds like quite and interesting topic. I'll have to cover that after I finish the series of books on Shinigami and the Zanpakutos." She smiled hearing the girl's division. Fourth, of course. That would make sense. She chuckled as the female inquired of her 'light reading' as she so called it. She could see how it would not really be considered light.
"I'm 12th division. And I have a photographic memory." She pointed her right index finger to the soft skin of her temple to make her point. "I copy a page mentally in a little over a second." Her smile faded a bit, however, as she went on in her train of thought. "I, too, feel the pain of being so new at things. I've yet to even complete my first experiment." With that, her book was drawn dramatically to her chest as she looked upward and to the right, sniffling with an air of soapish drama.
It was over momentarily, however, as she would return to her smile and look at the female before her. "If you'd like, I can leave you to your reading, if you don't mind, though," awkward as it may be, Ryu was rather straightforward sometimes, "I'd like to make a friend." She smiled and stepped back.
"Now step forward for measurements! I'm up for learning all I can about my new friend."

It seemed as if both Shinigami fit the awarded stereotypes of their own divisions. Ryu was intelligent, she even had a photographic memory and she seemed to be an avid fan of researching when it was revealed that such a large book could be considered light. She was what made up the 12th Division. On the other hand, Meimu was of the 4th Division, a fan of healing and it showed off even in her free time when she was trying to catch up on her reading of herbs and their medicinal properties. The Hakuchou could do little else but roll her eyes at what interested both of them, it seemed as if they had chosen the divisions that fit them best. Ryu treasured knowledge while Meimu was a healer, they were not like the assassins of the 2nd Division or the Melee-type fighters of the 11th.
Meimu giggled at Ryu's exaggerated emotion. The young shinigami placed a hand before her mouth as she laughed into it momentarily. As quickly as it had happened, the funny moment disappeared, to be replaced by another. Meimu was all for making friends, it seemed as if she was getting good at it recently when she considered her meetings with Shikaku, Yahiko, Takuya and now Ryu. Yet the need of measurements was somewhat unsettling and peculiar, yet not wanting to disappoint her new found friend, Meimu would oblige. She rose to her feet in front of the amethyst-haired shinigami, moving her own snow-colored locks out of her way, her cobalt hues staring at Ryu.
''This won't hurt, right?'' She would ask, trying to make light of the situation.

Ryu chuckled at the question, not even once noticing the discomfort this must have been placing on her new acquaintance. "Of course not! I'll be quite gentle, I promise." She smiled at the fellow shinigami as she pulled a purple tailors measure from her kimono and dropped one end to the floor, holding the other end between two fingers. "Where to begin..."
It was when the female stood that she would notice that she was not much taller than herself. With the measuring tape she would hold it to the female's head, stretching up to see where the mark hit.
"Five foot five. That's a very nice average height."
She was beginning to like this person more and more as she knew of her normalcy, but that was until she stepped back and...
"Wow what the hell are those!?"
She gasped and wrapped her tape measure around the female's chest.
"That's simply ridiculous! Unnatural! DOES YOUR BACK NOT KILL YOU?"
Ryu's outburst was over almost instantly as she looked down at her own breasts. Noting that maybe the reason she was so stunned by her companions was that she had none of her own. She shrugged.
"On to more important matters!!"
She excitedly began grabbing parts of the femaled body and measuring. She measured her feet, her big toe, her middle finger and hand, her arms, and her hair (stretched out, of course: who would measure the curl?). Now that she was thoroughly satisfied with her knowledge of her new friend's body type and comparison to the average, she replaced her measuring tape and returned to a more dignified demeanor.
"So, you like pancakes?"

Tekken was, for lack of a better word, sick of the non-stop training he had been doing in the past. He'd gotten sick of the tiresome regime every day, so, a thought came to his mind. ''Why not read?" Dragging his large, masculine palm along the rims of the books, he'd likely be an odd sight to the people that would usually sit around in such an establishment, but rather than phased by it, he embraced it. ''I wonder if any of these nerds have been with a woman before." he joked, laughing to himself, before his eyes peered to the side, their humor-filled, dark hues taking in the sight of the two women, one apparently being measured for something. ''..Well well, what do we have here?" he thought, as he cockily strode over to the two females, noting their actions.
''So, what're you two up to?"
He asked in the most casual tone he could muster, his knuckle dagger slanted lazily at his hip, him wearing it like some phallic war emblem. His sheer size and masculinity would likely hint the two off to his division, but, if it were not obvious enough, he tapped both biceps, and chuckled, informing them. ''Eleventh Division: Tekken Tetsuijou, and you two are?"

''...Wait, what?''
And so Ryu would get to work on Meimu's bosom, noting how large they were. Even before the Hakuchou could attempt a reply, Ryu continued taking even more measurements. Everything that could be measured was taken note of, probably with the 12th Division shinigami's keen photographic memory. Eyes widened in surprise, he would simply let her limbs dangle by her sides as Ryu inspected them. Even her snow-locks were gently pulled that to reveal its true length. A small grin appeared upon Meimu's thin lips as she finally realised the other girl was done with her measuring and exams. Wiping some imaginary dirty from her sleeves the girl turned around to face the voice that had came from behind. A clearly male voice had spoken to both of them, most likely had he been surprised by the odd display both she and Ryu had made.
Turning around upon her heels the elegant Soul Reaper's eyes would meet with Tekken's.
''I am Meimu of the Hakuchou Noble Family.'' She would explain before performing a quick curteous bow towards the 11th Division shinigami. This was the first time she had met a shinigami of that specific division.

Ryu had always found that making a new friend got her into a good mood, but her mood could easily be shattered by interruptions. A muscle-y guy from what she assumed (and her assumption was later confirmed) was from the eleventh division. She noted how unhealthy all those muscles looked. She was never one for too many muscles, and this guy definitely had too many. He seemed cocky, but she was unimpressed.
Her vitally important pancakes question had gone unanswered. She had merely wanted to know if the female shared an enjoyment of her favorite food. She didn't want to be rude, so she introduced herself as well, keeping a friendly facade. Her outer image was sometimes opposite her inner thoughts.
"Matsudaira Ryu of the Twelfth Division."
That would be all she'd say. She wondered if this brute could hold a decent intellectual conversation, what with all that muscle clogging his brain and whatnot. If he couldn't then she had no reason to stay here.

''A scientist and a er..? What role do you fit into, exactly?" he questioned with a warm, greeting smile, his head nodding in both the women's general direction, showing respect for both of them. ''I do not hope I was interrupting anything, I just..wanted to get to know some of the other Shinigami a bit more, I'm not really..acquainted with anyone." rusting his hands in his Gi, he tried his best to give eye contact to both of the girls, but, finding a pull toward her, he couldn't help but look at Meimu. ''So, a noble? You're not too good to be talking to a lowly 11th division member, are you?" Tekken jested, trying to lighten to mood, the scientist seemed less interested in him, but, trying to avoid conflicts with fellow Shinigami, he extended a hand to both, hoping for a handshake.
''Us Shinigami need to stick together, yeah?"
Standing there, hands out, he awaited the girl's gesture in return, fearful that he may indeed be left 'hanging' there, looking like a fool.

''I'm of the Fourth Division so I guess that makes me a healer.'' Meimu explained as she placed both of her hands behind her back, her fingers knitting themselves together. Her hands happened to be close to her sheathed blade which had been placed horizontally above her backside. There was no hostility in her movements, her fingers happened to be close to the sheath yet far from the hilt with which the blade was usually manipulated with. The noble girl would roll her eyes at the man's comment about her possible social discrimination. He was himself using a stereotype about the people that usually came of noble families yet Meimu was all about aiding others and not about octracising. She would shrug, simply not saying anything about his comment as she continued to listening to what he had to say, he was obviously trying to make friends and create conversation, and for that, the Hakuchou could not dislike him, he seemed genuine.
He was surprisingly Meimu's type. She had a fascination about a well built male. She was turned off by those who wished to build their bodies to the point of being completely superhuman, yet a well built musculature did wonders to the silver-haired girl's interest. She would hide these feelings of course, being part of a family that had taught her to act like a lady at all times meant that she could not simply say anything that was on her mind, especially with people she barely knew. She had already broken some rules with Takuya and was not interested in repeating the actions she had done in Karakura Town.
Bringing her arm before her once more she would welcome Tekken's hand, briskly shaking it before releasing it and placing her hand by her hip.
''Sure, we need to stick together. So I was wondering, and Ryu-san must wonder the same thing. What type of books do you read?''

Ryu sighed. She guessed that if her new friend was being at least cordial to the guy, she could be too. She reached out and shook his hand with a small nod, agreeing with his statement.
"Power in numbers."
She brought her hand back to her side, looking over at her fellow female. She smirked a bit. Part of her seemed to be seeing an interest sparked in her eyes as she was looking at the intruder so named Tekken. Her questioning of him only deepened her suspicions. She doubted that the male would catch on to this subtlety, seeing as, well, he was a male. Girls were more apt to discovering such looks of interest.
"Yes, if you are in the library, surely you came here for a read."

''Honestly? As you've probably assumed, I don't read much, would you two be able to recommend anything to me? Something with lots of pictures, of course." laughing at his own stereotype, he nestled his hands behind his neck, muscles twitching as he held the relaxed pose, he seemed to be comfortable around the two, even if he had just met them. It looked like he finally had some friends, or, more so, people that weren't so hostile toward him.
''So, what did you two have planned for today?"
He asked in an inquisitive manner, suddenly interested in what the two girls were, and planned on doing, as the 'measuring' before certainly caught him off guard. ''So what was that measuring about? Were you measuring her for an experiment, or some clothing?" Tekken questioned, tilting his head to the side, curious as to what her answer would be.

Meimu had no idea what book she could suggest to Tekken. To her he seemed as be the type of man to like the 'Twilight' series, a tale of love between a human and a vampire, or so she had heard. She heaved her shoulders and shook her head, signaling that she would not be the one to answer his question. Ryu seemed more knowledgeable when it came to books and the library. The Hakuchou ran her fingers through her ivory mane, her digits stopping at one of the tips of the strands as she slowly started placing with her hair, her eyes now gone from Tekken to look at her own hair. ''I was not really planning to do anything, I'm not even a seated officer so there's not much to do.'' Meimu explained with another shrug, cerulean hues still upon her hair.
The question about Ryu's display of quirkyness made the young shinigami smile. Though she could not say she had enjoyed the event, it was somewhat incomfortable at the time, it just showed how different and funny Ryu could be.
''She was jus gathering some data.'' Meimu said, her explanation barely making any sense or answering what Tekken had asked, though she did not feel the need to necessarily explain what she did not fully understand herself.

For someone like the brutish man before her, she would have suggested something like the newspaper, as that seemed to be his reading level, but she would not underestimate him.
"There's a book on muscles in the anatomy section. You can learn about what each one does and it's location."
She nodded, feeling a bit helpful at least, and listened as Meimu and the male had a few words about what they were planning to do that day. She had been thinking of perhaps turning in early. Maybe borrowing another book from the library and taking it back to her room for bedtime reading. The chemistry books had looked interesting. She waited until her friend had finished and put in her own two cents.
"I was thinking of finishing my book and borrowing one of the chemistry books to read before bed."
Her face remained straight as his next question was posed. She didn't seem to see it as abnormal to learn the measurements of her friend. She turned to Meimu as she answered, and her statement would agree.
"Yes. I was measuring her for my own personal database."
With that her words would be complete, and no further motions would be made to continue speaking of the matter. She was itching to finish reading. She'd stopped mid-paragraph in her book. She'd yet to learn the history of the name Zanpakuto.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I have business to attend to before bed. Good night. Would you like to accompany me, Miss Meimu?"
With that, she'd begin to leave, hoping her new friend would follow. The walk was rather lonesome, anyway.

It seemed as if Ryu did not necessarily want to suggest books for the 11th Division Shinigami. Meimu smiled, trying to hide the anguish she felt. It seemed as if Ryu did not like his kind, she had no interest in the people of the 11th. The Hakuchou doubted that her new friend disliked Tekken personally because she barely knew him at all, she based herself on the whole stereotype of his division. The Hakuchou was accustomed to such discrimination, the shinigami of her Division were handed down all the hated chores, they were in charge of the cleaning of sewers, they were sent on regular trips to prison cells to feed the prisonners and make sure their cells were properly cleaned. And for all the hard work they did, the 4th Division was seen as inferior, it was a constant in Gotei 13. Only the Captain and her lieutenant were respected it seemed.
Yet the Hakuchou would bring change. The ability to heal was not one to look down upon. Her Division was vital to Seireitei, to its function and to its survival.
''Sure Ryu-san! I shall be right behind you.'' Meimu said as she bowed curtly before her friend that left the library. ''It was a pleasure to meet you Tekken-kun! I look forward to seeing you again!'' She said before bowing before the 11th Division Shinigami also. And with that she hurried away behind the amethyst-haired girl.

[Hah, sorry guys, I didn't get a chance to post.] It seemed the two women were in a hurry to leave, to him, it seemed like Meimu was the only one out of the two that actually treated him nicely, for this, he'd be grateful. ''I'll have to make it up to her someday." he thought, as he turned and left, his brutish hands grabbing a large book on anatomy, or more so, the fundamentals of muscle building and muscle health. ''I'm just gonna take this, yeah?" he casually spoke to the much smaller person beside him, the man nodding quickly. ''Okay, good. I'll bring it back whenever." waving to the rest of the library, for some odd reason, he left. Taking his new reading material with him. [/exit] [/blockquote]
