So, how do I get promotion from an unseated rank to a seated rank?

Staff approval and an appropriate rank to represent the corresponding seat desired.

S'simple. You're free to assume any seat, 20-11, prior to achieving Shikai. Multiple people may possess that seat. Once Rank Five is attained, the strongest user of Shikai gets the Third Seat, and then downward for weaker Shikai users, down to to Tenth Seat. Seats 3-9 can only have one person in it, Seat 10 is for the weakest Shikai users, and multiple people may occupy it. You may fight other members of your division to take their seats. The Lieutenant is Second Seat. This can only be approved by staff at Rank 10 at least. The Captain is First Seat, and you need Admin Approval, at Rank 15, at least.
