- Appearance
- Kyouzame, in her passive form, takes the shape of a standard Kodachi. The blade is fourteen inches, with a six inch handle, allowing it to be wielded with two hands should Mao wish it. The blade is well polished, to the point that the steel itself almost seems to be white. The handle is wrapped in alternating strips of white and black leather, allowing for proper gripping and comfort. The hilt is capped with a red gemstone of an unknown, though highly durable composition.
When Released, Kyouzame transforms into a different weapon entirely. The Kodachi becomes a steel fan, twelve inches overall, composed of highly durable metal, and kept stable with a total of nine metal prongs. Upon each of these rods is a two inch, glowing crimson needle. Depicted on Kyouzame’s ebony surface is an eerie white painting; dead trees with twisted branches, with a skeletal tiger walking amongst them. At the fans hinge, a red tassel flows, roughly a foot in length. While one would assume the needles are the fans main offense, the steel edge itself easily cuts through flesh. The material is by no means strong enough to replace the use of a well-forged shield, but many opponents would be shocked at just how durable the fan is, resisting many a stab with hardly a dent.- Manifestation
- The true form of Kyouzame is whom appears to be a young kabuki dancer. The ebony hair of the female is kept up in a tight bun, half a dozen elaborately decorated pins keeping the raven tresses in place. Her eyes are a piercing red, accented even further by the crimson paint brushed upon her lids. A veil covers the lower half of her face – from the eyes down – and her hands never seem to be exposed, lost beneath the sleeves of her elaborate kimono. Said wardrobe has multiple layers, each one intricately decorated with complex patterns, though most remain alternating between black and white. However, small touches of red are applied to certain layers and designs for a bit of contrast. Her feet are covered with white tabi, slipped into the comfort of high-platform wooden geta. When the veil is removed and her hands slip from their confines, one will find the hidden areas to be completely skeletal, barren of any tissue. In life, the woman was a performer, but fell deathly ill, and died before she was able to complete the final performance in a running show. This illness is a representation of Kyouzame’s abilities, which include various status ailments, and having good things turn terribly bad.
Personality wise, Kyouzame’s actions are dramatic – overly so at times – for the entity is forever looped in a stage performance. She speaks almost poetically, at times adding more confusion to an already complex situation. However, her bond with Mao is a deep one, and she strives to see the timid child improve herself, soaring high above the competition, and bringing fame and recognition to both of their names. Words at times are harsh and cause Mao to second guess herself. However, it is simply because Kyouzame doesn’t wish to sugar-coat anything. No improvement can be made if one does not recognize their flaws.- Inner World
- The realm in which Kyouzame lives appears to be a theatre. The stage is lit from all angles, and various items decorate the area, setting the scene and mood for all those witness the interaction before them. And indeed, there are witnesses; humanesque silhouettes with glowing amber eyes, ever watching the events on stage. They do not say anything, and they move little, aside from the occasional curious tilt of the head. Any occurrences within the realm happen on stage, as if all was just one well-rehearsed play. As such, when one finds themselves in need of an object, said item will seem to mysteriously appear, tucked away amongst the scenery.
- Release Phrase
- Odori, Kyouzame! “Dance, Kyouzame!”
- Abilities
- Quivering Bones [5 – Zanjutsu Based] A passive ability of Kyouzame, once the technique is unlocked. This causes any strike involving the weapon – be it a strike against the fan, or the fan striking a target – to cause the bones of the opponents appendage to vibrate violently, causing not only pain, but also the limb to go completely numb, making any action with it extremely difficult. If it is a weapon to weapon strike, Kyouzame causes the opponents item to vibrate violently, in turn affecting the hands and delivering a less severe version of the ability. Specifically, while the hands may ache, numbing won’t go much further than a painful tingling sensation. If left alone, feeling and mobility will return to the affected appendage within three turns. If, however, the same area of the body is struck a second time, the limb becomes completely paralyzed for three turns, plus an additional three for recovery.
- Crimson Gale [10 – Kido Based] – This ability transforms the once short-ranged item into a tool of ranged combat. Reiatsu is sent into the fan, causing the red spines at the end of the Tessen to glow with a scarlet light. When the fan is waved, a large, visible gust of wind, tinted red, is sent in whatever direction the user desires. These winds are of gale force, powerful enough to cause most bodies to stagger backwards. The attack covers a distance of forty feet, and is ten feet wide and tall. The wind holds all properties of previous Zanpakutou abilities, meaning that if the winds strike the opponent, the affected area of their body will become numb, or paralyzed if hit a second time.
- Mirror Winds [15 – Kido Based] – A highly defensive ability, but with offensive capabilities if used correctly. The winds have now molded the reiatsu used to create them in a very unique manner, which gives them a very powerful ‘rebound’ affect. However, only techniques that are over powered by this reiatsu will be shot back at the caster. Anything that is equal in strength will be negated, along with the winds, and anything more powerful will simply pass right through. Kido up to rank 50 will be reflected, 51-80 will be negated, and 81-99 pass through with no hindrance. Animo-based Hollow Skills up to ‘Average’ strength will be reflected, ‘High’ will be negated, and ‘Very High’ will pass directly through.
I thought my Zanpakutou was lacking, so I revamped it a bit D: Hope everything is acceptable.
