Name Shura Kazuki
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Rank: Zero
Specialists:
- non Martial Arts Specialist
- non Advent Specialist
- Agility Specialist + 4 Sprint
- Armed Weapon Specialist
Appearance: Kazuki is, in some circles, considered to be good-looking. His short platinum blonde hair, inherited from his blonde father and his Albino mother, is natural. The unusual color is the first thing to draw attention and mostly the only thing complimented on. He has a strong chin and a prominent nose gives him a slightly tense mature look like his father, though his own blue eyes are brighter than the elder.
He is somewhat tall, standing at roughly 5 foot 8 inches. Kazuki is usually very active and hardworking and, as a result, is a bit muscular. His muscle structure is lean and his weight, due to a high metabolism, is low so his body is more built for speed than strength. His clothing consists of simple clothing that don’t hamper movement, more because he hates fussing over what he looks like than functionality.
Advent Affinity: Shinigami
Power Focus: Kazuki’s power is focused in the form of weaponry; specifically twin guns.
Advent Human Power:
- First Advent
Name: Buki Zoukyou
Level: Medium
Description: Buki Koukyou translates as “Weapon Augment”. This power is, simply it would seem, the ability to summon two guns for combat. The weapons are made almost entirely of reiatsu and also fire bullets of super condensed reiatsu. Due to the bullets being made of Kazuki’s reiatsu, the ammo is limited to Kazuki himself. Firing many bullets will leave him drained or “overheated” and he will have to “reload”, so to speak, meaning he needs to cease fire until he can regain control of his spiritual power.
Restrictions: Restricted to [Shura Kazuki].
History:
His history wasn’t something dramatic. It wasn’t anything exciting or out of the norm. Kazuki was just… well, a normal boy. He had been born on a nice September afternoon, just as the sun was setting. There had been no complications with his birth and he was even born only a couple of days late. It was expected and his parents were happy with their first born son and both would remember how ‘adorable’ he looked and how much like his father he was. This same event had probably happened at least a dozen times that day.
His mother, Naoko, had recovered fully and his father, Shinji, was always by her side. There wasn’t any romantic story, well, nothing like in the movies anyway. They took their son home sometime later to make their first attempt as parenthood. Kazuki, named after his grandfather, grew up with no lack of love and was showered with attention. He was taught discipline and respect, which was usual considering his fathers military background.
Kazuki was a great child and was always eager to help. He didn’t like chores any more than the next kid, but got used to them. He rarely got into trouble and when he did, he was quick to learn his lesson. But unlike most children, accidents never happened often with him. When swinging a little recklessly in the park, should he slip off and fall a soft landing was all that greeted him. An encounter with a rabid dog ended quickly when the dog saw something he could not and was scared away.
There was always a sense of safety and protection at those times. But they were few and far in between. Kazuki didn’t notice immediately but his normal life was slowly taking a detour. Gradually he was able to… sense things others could not. Of course by now a fear of not being accepted by his peers was instilled within him, so he kept these senses mostly to himself. No one noticed and soon his life became routine again. His parents, having considered their son a sign, felt they wanted another child.
Somewhat like an omen, Kazuki’s little sister was born on his fourth birthday. All attention was diverted from his own special day. It was expected for Kazuki to be jealous or bitter, but not for him to be just as excited about the birth of his sister. To him, it was no longer just his special day but a day he could share with his new sibling. He’d have a friend that would always be there for him and a friend he would protect. Shura Naoto was raised in much the same way Kazuki was himself. Taught the importance of discipline and respect.
Both were taught to love and cherish the other and they became close. Of course there was still the sibling rivalry. No two siblings were perfect and there were times they hated each other. But mostly, for Kazuki, it was a distraction from the invisible figures he was beginning to see. One figure seemed more familiar than the others and it gave him the familiar feeling of safety when near. But some of the figures made him feel incredibly uneasy. Once again a normal life became complicated during his years in High School.
By now those figures were clearly visible and Kazuki was able to put together what, or who, they were supposed to be. Ghosts. Seeing people long dead was more than simply disturbing. Not only that, but he had no one to share this with… after all, who would believe him? Somewhat like a coping mechanism, Kazuki learned to ignore the ghosts. But not just ignore, Kazuki ignored them to the point he was able to keep himself from reacting to their presence at all. He had the feeling that if they knew he could see them, things would become even worse.
He focused on continuing his life with as much normalcy as possible. Though he knew, deep down, the moment he was able to see them that his life would eventually spiral out of control regardless of what he did. Even worse, he was able to recognize that familiar ghost that appeared once occasion. The visits had become sparse but the face of the robed figure stuck out in his mind. Kazuki had never met his grandfather but had learned to respect him due to how highly his own father thought of him. It explained so much. Those few times he was ‘saved’ from one thing or another. The aura of protection and safety.
After graduating he focused on getting into his ideal college, a task that seemed way out of his reach. Even more so when he went to pick up his sister from school on a boring April afternoon. They walked down the familiar path home, Kazuki silently worrying about his upcoming entrance exam. He had already failed once and the title of Ronin was something he quickly came to hate.
Naoto walk beside him, simply happy she managed to get her brother out of his room for once. If only just to walk her home. Kazuki came to an abrupt stop in the middle of the sidewalk, his blue eyes wide.
“You…” he whispered, a sharp contrast to his usual loud and friendly demeanor.
Unseen, though only partially, to Naoto, a figure stood in their path. The elder sibling recognized him immediately, the portrait sitting on their fathers desk flashing in his memories. Before them was their grandfather, longer since deceased having died a year before Kazuki was born. His severe expression betrayed the waves of suppressed affection rolling off his body.
“Kazuki…” His voice was deep and laced with age. “You… know who I am.”
His voice, surprisingly, reached Naoto. “Huh? Onii-chan… is someone there?”
The elder man didn’t take his eyes off of his grandson, almost as if he had expected the girls reaction. Kazuki was startled. “Naoto, you can hear him?”
She nodded, straining her eyes to see the invisible figure.
“She isn’t to the point you are at yet. She shouldn’t be able to see me clearly like you can.” said the specter. “This is my fault.”
“What do you mean?”
The old man stared at the boy intensely, contemplating his words. “I have been doing my best to protect you since you were a child. No doubt you subconscious recognizes my spiritual signature. But because of my actions, you have been subjected to my reiatsu.” he glanced over his shoulder before continuing. “Since you were so young, it was easy for your own spiritual energy to flourish under my own. This is why you can see and interact with ghosts.”
Kazuki frowned. Reiatsu? That was the reason he was able to see ghosts? It was almost no better than him simply being a freak. But it did help explain these things. He listened as his grandfather gave him a quick rundown of the basics. Reiatsi, Shinigami, and more importantly…
“Hollows?” Kazuki’s eyebrows rose toward his hairline. “So there are evil spirits called Hollows that feed off the Reiatsu of… human beings like me.”
The elder nodded. “I am rather surprised you haven’t been attacked yet. Maybe because your reiatsu resembles a Shinigami. Weaker Hollows would be scared off, but stronger ones would only want you more.”
“I see. What about Naoto? Is she safe?” The Shinigami looked somewhat surprised as Kazuki simply waved off his own danger. Naoto, who hadn’t said a word, was staring as the figure was slowly becoming more and more visible.
“She is also in danger. Your own growing reiatsu has caused her power to grow. Hollows will seek her out as well.” Kazuki frowned, not liking the thought of some hunger ghost after his sister. He needed a way to protect her. A loud beeping noise interrupted his thoughts.
The old man looked alarmed and quickly pulled a cellphone from his pocket.
“Damn! It’s here!”
The moment the words left his lips, a snake-like tail shot out a sent him flying into a car parked nearby. Kazuki only had a second to react as he pushed his sister away, the same tail wrapping around his throat and lifting him into the air.
”Hmmm, what do we have hear? A human?” Kazuki was lifted higher until he came face to face with a masked monster. It resembled a giant lizard, it’s long slimy tongue lazily licking his face. ”Strange… you smell so much better than my usual meal. Almost like a Shinigami.” it chuckled darkly, watching as Kazuki struggled for oxygen.
“K-Kazuki!” The monster glanced past it’s captured victim.
”Your sibling, I assume.” it sighed, noticing how she didn’t react when it looked at her. She most likely couldn’t see him. What a let down.
“Leave… her… a-alone.” gasped Kazuki, clawing at the tail crushing his windpipe. His vision was going dark and his head felt really light.
”Oh? Or what?”
“Byakurai!” The Hollow roared in pain as a beam of lightning shot through it’s tail, severing it and dropping Kazuki to the ground. The old Shinigami pressed the attack with his sword, driving it away from his recovering grandson.
“Grandpa… ?” The Hollow, much larger than the old man shrugged off most of the weak sword attacks, grinning as it’s claws cut through his like butter. Kazuki felt something in him snap when the elderly man hit the ground and didn’t get up.
”Hahaha! Pathetic Shinigami!” The Hollow laughed and, using what was left of it’s tail, grabbed the unconscious Shinigami. ”I’ll just eat you first.”
“No!” Before it’s fangs could sink in a fierce pressure knocked it back. Kazuki stood to his feet his reiatsu swirling around him wildly, trying to find a form to take. He grit his teeth and lifted his hands. “You can’t have him!” he roared, his energy flowing into his hands, condensing into two guns.
”W-What!?” The Hollow dropped the body. An Advent? He’d taken too long!
“Go to hell!” Kazuki pulled the triggers and pushed at the energy he felt inside him. The guns felt both heavy and light at the same time, barely recoiling as two powerful bullets flew from the chambers. The Hollow barely moved an inch before two bullets struck it dead center in it’s mask.
The beast gave a final death wail before breaking apart and vanishing.
“G-Grandpa!” Kazuki quickly ran to the elders side, kneeling beside his crying sibling. The old man was conscious, but the blood wouldn’t stop coming.
“Don’t… don’t worry about me. There isn’t anything else you can do, though you tried your best.” he gasped, wincing as another wave of pain hit him. “Kazuki… you have to protect everyone now that you have the means. There is much more to this than either of you know… watch out for each other.”
“I will…” Kazuki looked at his grandfathers face for what would be the last time and cried. Suddenly, trying to be normal wasn’t so important. He and Naoto stayed by the man’s side as he silently passed away, eventually dissolving away much like the Hollow.
That day, long since burned into his memory, served as motivation. Kazuki would grow stronger and would make sure he could protect everyone with his power. He would be a protector in honor of his grandfather.
