Aimless footsteps carried the goddess of death through the outskirts of the Soul Society. It had been some time since Hikari had seen any sort of action, but that was likely due to her low rank. After all, unseated members of Gotai 13 were rarely called into harms way on a regular basis. A disillusioned sigh slid from her lips as glazed over chestnut optics gazed through the towering trees of the boarder forest.
The shinigami often found herself meandering through the seemingly endless jungle despite the supposed danger of frequent hollow invasions. She had never encountered anything dangerous within the forest’s bosom, and if she did, she was certain she could at least outrun her opponent. The young woman hated the crowded and bureocratic operations of Seireitei, and many times just needed a break from the hustle and bustle of Shinigami life. A phantom breeze caressed the vacant forest, pushing her silken garment to flutter gently in her wake as she continued her stroll. “Bored.”

“Hmm…” Takuya said, sighing. He perched on a bough in the Border Forest, frowning to himself. It was silent outside; the sun was ripe in the horizon, ready to burst and fall below it. His shift was ending soon, to be replaced by another Shinigami from the Seventh Division. Their duties as the first responders to conflict also made them to most eligible to patrol duty; after all, the first person on scene is the attacked patrol, isn’t it?
His ears twitched to the sounds around him, detecting the approach of another creature. His sense of reiatsu flared out, noting the familiar shapes and contours of energy of a fellow Shinigami. He let out a quiet breath of relief, dropping from the trees above. He noted the way she walked; slowly, boredly, contentedly. She was trim and willowy, in an athletic kind of way. He watched her silently, making no effort to hide himself or his reiatsu from view. He nodded to her as she strolled within view, shifting his eyes from her to the forest briefly.
“Greetings…” He said, by way of greeting. “Rika Takuya, Seventh Division. Patrol Duty. Might I ask who you are, and what you’re doing in the forest?” He smiled apologetically. “I’ve got to do it.” It was true; part of his duty was keeping traitors in, and he needed to question anyone who passed by. Of course, everyone had legitimate reasons, even if they didn’t have time to stop and tell him. Still, he had to try, at least…

As the young woman continued her stroll, a peculiar sound became suddenly audible from the distance. Aside from a vacant wind, nothing else resided in these forests. The sound of rustling leaves was evident, causing the woman to about-face to face the other being, be they friend or enemy. Taking the time to introduce himself, the stranger recited his name, position, and reasons for being within the forest. A quiet sigh foreshadowing speech left her lips, followed by her ‘identity.’
“Asagawa Hikari, Second Division. Bored out of my mind.” She reported, staring blankly back at Takuya. The questioning seemed a bit superfluous. Even the newest members of the Soul Society would be able to identify her as a soul reaper by her zanpacto and sable robes. The female shinigami was quite terrible at making small talk, and had little to say in terms of anything important. Attempting to force some sort of conversation piece, her face contorted to a mask of confusion before the question left her lips. “So…Hows afterlife?”

Takuya blinked a couple times as she responded. She had just made the strangest face as she spoke. It seemed as though she was trying to force the idle conversation out through a hose. He restrained the urge to chuckle, and instead settled for a slightly bemused smile. He wondered what she was thinking, to make faces like that. Still, she was clearly just as bored as he was, if her words had anything to do with it.
“It goes alright.” He said finally, answering her awkward question. “The border has been quiet today. I suppose we should be thankful of that.” He scratched his cheek, closing his eyes for a brief moment and thinking. In fact, he hadn’t slain a single Hollow all day. It felt wrong; it was too quiet in Hueco Mundo. Something was wrong beyond the borders of the Soul Society. However, all they could do for now was wait and find out.
“And for you?” He returned the confusion to her, with full force. He was a little distracted, and couldn’t think of a better question than that to ask, though they occurred to him after he spoke. Who was she? Why did she walk in the forest when she was bored? Why second division? Of course, they weren’t questions you randomly asked of acquaintances, so they remained where they belonged; wedged in his head.

The forced small talk was awkward, to say the least. Even the most eloquent Shinigami seemed to struggle with creating mindless conversation, if only because they had eternity to think of something worth talking about. Nonetheless, Hikari was thankful that Takuya had indulged her bizarre question to keep her from looking like a fool. Casually commenting on his day of boarder patrol, after the man had accounted for his day, her question was reversed back onto the asker.
It was a standard tactic during witless banter; one, which if gone unchecked, could lead to hours of speaking without really talking about anything at all. “I’ve been rather bored. Low ranked members of division two don’t often see action, much less anything exciting. Most fun I’ve had my entire time as a Shinigami was a chance encounter with a Hollow in the human realm.” She said, fading back to her encounter with the strange human.
Deciding to halt their small talk before the conversation turned to (god forbid) the weather, Hikari bowed and gave an awkward farewell. “Well…it was nice to meet you. Hopefully the rest of your shift goes well.” A bit flustered by possibly the most obtuse situation she had gotten into, she slowly turned to take her leave, a bit embarrassed that she was so dull.

“I see…” He said quietly, looking down the sword hanging from his belt as she turned to leave. He regarded it for a moment, and then slowly drew the katana from its sheath, the steel scraping against itself. He turned it over in his hands once, running a finger down the length of the blade, around the blue-trimmed tsuba and hilt. He wondered sometimes if that blue indicated something to do with the state of his Shikai or such. He grinned slightly and looked up at her, tossing his zanpaktou from one hand to another idly, the hilt twirling within.
“Discover the name of your zanpaktou yet?” He asked casually. It was a bit more of an interesting topic. There was no way around it; Shinigami lived a life of combat and conflict. They lived to gain power, and to gain power so that they could live. There was no middle ground in the endless war. The weak died eventually. Only the strong lived on in the Soul Society. Nowhere was that more true in the Shinigami section of the Dead World than the Border Forest.
He didn’t know the name of his own yet. He wondered if she had spoken to hers, somehow communicated with it. He didn’t know if he’d managed it. Sometimes he thought he could hear the whisper of the blade, talking to him. He wondered, too, what kind of skills she had with her weapon, and how she fought. He was a Kido specialist, himself. The magic simply flowed easily from him. He awaited her response, still gripping his weapon.

The young warrior’s heart fluttered at the sound of metal sliding out from the clutches of its wooden bindings. That sound. That glorious sound was the sign that combat was about to ensue. As a member of the second division, Hikari lived and breathed combat, and the prospect that a fight was about to begin excited her. Just then, a more…personal question floated through the air. Takuya had inquired about her relationship with her zanpacto.
A sly look peered over her shoulder, and her body slowly turned to face her fellow shinigami once again. Chocolate optics gazed onto the man’s soul, a flawless, somewhat flamboyant katana was wielded with cool confidence. Deciding to answer, she initated what could either be a deep conversation or a prelude to a sparring match. Both paths seemed like reasons to stay in Takuya’s company. “Not yet, but hopefully I’m getting close.” She said calmly, her left hand sweeping behind her as nimble digits wrapped around the hilt of her weapon.
A simple ninjato was birthed from the sheath which was strapped to her lower back parallel to the ground. Her blade was considerably shorter than her companion’s, but its size allowed for faster movement and greater dexterity. Pointing the fanged tip directly at Takuya, her eyes glistened with anticipation. What would he do next? Brandished zanpacto were rarely replaced without their thirst for blood being slaked. Beneath the ebony garment, Hikari’s lithe form prepared to move on the off chance that an impromptu sparring session commenced. “How bout you? Yours have a name yet?

Takuya watched her extract her sword from its protector, holding in a faint breath as a familiar shiver ran through him. It was the kind that certain Shinigami felt at the prospect of combat. Seventh Division, Eleventh Division, Second Division… These three were considered the most combat-ready and battle-hardened of Shinigami, normally. All of them felt a particularly desirous deluge of butterflies in their stomach at the sound of ringing metal, of blade meeting blade. He looked at his own sword with a slight smile, then at hers.
“Not yet, either. I know it begins with ‘F’… That’s the most I’ve been able to discern of the name.” He was sure of that much. He had heard the voice calling to him, across a great distance, and the name always began with that same letter; F. He knew it had to be the beginning, but it could mean so many things… He wanted to find out. He gripped the blade a little more tightly. “Although truth be told, I fight more with Kido than I do with Zanjutsu.”
He moved forward next, bringing his sword down towards hers, his blade flashing in the low sunlight as they clashed together. He spoke as he moved, smirking at her. “White chariot! Blue soldiers, rustled leaves, thirteen black clouds, unleash the sky!” He hefted a finger and pointed it towards her shoulder as their blades met, if she blocked, aiming the crackling reiatsu forming at it. “Hado no Yon: Byakurai!” A bolt of crackling white lightning would erupt from his finger, shooting towards her. If she didn’t move, she’d have a nice hole punched through her.

A smile twisted over her lips as the cumbersome katana fell from the sky. A quick spin of her short sword twisted the weapon to run perpendicular with her arm, and the cold steel of her blade intercepted her opponents. As soon as their weapons locked, Takuka began to spout an incantation, gearing up to cast some sort of kido spell.
With a quick blast of reietsu through her body, the young woman would simply disappear by way of shunpo (1|11), leaving her opponents blade to fall through thin air as his target disappeared. With only a slight delay, the shinigami phased in right behind the kido caster, her sword directly in front of his neck. Her motion would take only a moment, and most likely catch the chanting shinigami off guard since his mind was preoccupied spouting the ritual. Should her relocation be a success, a sultry chide was whispered into his ear. “Too Slow.”

Following a trail of Reiatsu is aways fun you never know what, or who the trail belongs to. This trail is strong and I have been following it since Karakura town and that was a while ago. The trail was getting stronger and stronger. the Reiatsu I was following a glowing trail that was pungent to my eyes, could there be someone more powerful that me around the Soul Society, This person has been around much longer than I have. Hopefully he isn't willing to scrap, because I don't know I could hang with him.
Walking up he could see a string of white lightning come from a mans finger as he heard a sonnet phrase then boom! Should I run over there, maybe the Shinigami was in trouble from a hollow or mabe there was a fight. I thought to myself as I swiftly walked over to the hedges, peering over at the two Shinigami

“You’re a tricky one, I’ll give you that…” Takuya murmured, grinning as she evaded him easily. So… she was a master of Hoho. That explained a lot to him. She was incredibly fast, more so than he could truly follow. However, he had his own specialties, and though he wasn’t as skilled as her, Hoho was one of them. He ducked beneath her blade, flashing away from her with the speed of Shunpo [1.8]. He turned to her, hefting his blade in one hand and pointing a finger at her with the other.
“Sign of three warriors,” He proclaimed, drawing a triangle with his hand. Kido traced behind it, leaving the triangle shimmering in air, formed from golden reiryoku, “approach and declare war on the forbidden followers! Bakudo no. 30: Shitotsu Sansen!” The points of the magical triangle shot off towards the girl at high speed, attempting to pin her down against a nearby try. They were fast, very fast, but she might be able to avoid them. If not, he would be at her neck with his katana at the ready in an instant. He grinned, moving in a weaving motion towards her.
He detected a faint sense of reiatsu approaching; a fellow Shinigami, he recognized almost immediately. That was fine. He didn’t mind. Anyone with good spiritual sense would be able to tell that all the reiatsu being released was Shinigami, oriented towards the powers of life. They were in no danger, and he could fight off anything that came this way anyway. He grinned, facing her with the tip of his sword up and ready.

Utilizing a shunpo of his own, the shinigami managed to slip from her grasp. Of course, if their conflict was a real one, her zanpacto would find itself sheathed rather swiftly in her opponents neck. However, since this was just for fun, she allowed him to free himself. The man then began chanting yet another incantation. Giggling childishly to herself, another flash step (2|11) would carry her away, hiding her behind a tree about five meters to her left. Takuya was utilizing a fairly standard binding spell, one that was kept within Hikari’s arsenal of spells as well. Because of this, the assassin knew exactly how to evade the tricky spell.
If bakudo # 30 hit something first (in this instance the tree), Hikari would be unaffected by its restricting ability. Safeguarded by the skeleton of nature, a quick incantation of her own was muttered through hushed tones. As an amateur in the ways of spellcasting, she could only muster a simple spell in the short amount of time. Should her ritual go uninterrupted, bright lights vaguely reminiscent of fireflies would fly from behind the tree and towards Takuya.
Since the bright lights would give away her posission, another flash step (3|11) would carry her away once again, this time transporting her into the branches of a tree directly to Takuya’s right (assuming he hadn’t changed his orientation.)

Rika Takuya sighed, stretching out his senses. He could feel her reiatsu, and he knew immediately that he needed to switch tactics if he was going to catch her. He felt her out, feeling her behind the tree, hiding from his Shitotsu Sansen. He growled as she released her own incantation. He began to chant again, preparing a new kido; one she hadn’t seen before, that would hopefully catch her by surprise. He began it as soon as his Bakudo ended.
“Ye lord!” He intoned, extending his right hand towards her, extending his fingers. “Mask of flesh and bone, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man!” His left hand came to rest on his shoulder, palm facing away from him. He blinked away the fireflies as his kido began to take shape. Blue light began to play around his right fingers. “Truth and temperance, upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws!” He grinned, swiveling to face her new hiding place as she arrived. He couldn’t tell exactly where she was, but he could tell the general direction. With this Kido, it was all he needed.
“Hado No Sanjuusan: Sōkatsui!” A torrent of crackling blue energy, twisting like flame, erupted from his palm. It flew towards her, exploding with a crushing force of reiatsu as it blew into the trees, taking up a vast cone in her general direction. He hoped he had caught hold of her with the strike, but she was a wily one. He would be ready, regardless of what she came at him with next. He began to close his eyes, preparing his next kido…
“Blue and white rain!”

From her perch directly to the man’s right, her reiatsu repressed itself as she prepared to make a close range strike. Sharp eyes caught the beginnings of a kido spell, one aimed directly at her new hiding place. “Oh fuck you.” She said to herself, clapping her hands before utilizing another flash step (4|11) to relocate out of harms way. Hopefully the sound of the burning and falling timber in combination with the flash of blinding lights would distract him from the distinctive rustle of leaves that could reveal her new perch.
Making another 90 degree clockwise rotation in context to his location, she watched from behind the veil of emerald leaves a few meters higher than her previous altitude. Her ears picked up on another kido incantation, and rolled her eyes from her invisible hiding place. Can’t you do anything else? she mentally chided, watching curiously to see where his next spell would be directed.

“Ten candles, fourteen suns, the loss of a single chariot!” He thrust both of his hands out to the sides, palms displayed. “Blue lines intersect the core of a threatened king,” he swept them forward, forming a picture square with his hands. Blue reiatsu began to crackle along his arms, sliding around him, “a thousand white links hold the heart of the assassin at bay!” He grinned, turning quickly and projecting his reiatsu. “Bakudo no Nijuusan: Juujika Awaikusari.”
His energy blasted outward, forming into a square around his selected target; their hidden watcher. He was well concealed, physically, but spiritually he was a beacon. He smirked, letting the crosses explode forth with chains, hopefully wrapping around the Shinigami. Maybe the guy would evade it, but it would definitely be a bit of a surprise. He smiled and looked back over, into the crowds. He yawned, looking around for her. Her reiatsu was suppressed, now…
“Oi.. We have an audience. Perhaps we can pick this back up later… As for now, my patrol is over.” He grinned. “I’ll catch you later, Asagawa Hikari of the Second Division…” He would. He would find her again, and they would complete this duel. They’d complete it without an audience. Nothing against his viewer, of course. But he didn’t like witnesses when he pushed himself to the maximum. It was good to keep power concealed from most. He snapped his fingers, dispelling the Kido.
Whoosh.

I said as I Shunpoed [ 1/8 ] to the tree branch to left and much higher of the ground then I was before. What the hell was that for. I thought as the Shinigami announced he was leaving before We could be Introduced. Well I should at least make my self known to the Girl, after she graced me with the show of skill. "Mhmm," I said Clearing my throat before Shunpo-ing [ 2/8 ]from the tree branch and into the open. "Hi their, My name is Shokyou Suza, Viazard from Karakura Town." I sad to the trees, not knowing the true location of the young lady.[/ul]

Watching as the kido spell ripped through the air, it hit home against a target concealed in the brush. While keeping her spiritual power repressed, she silently repositioned to get a better look at the voyeur. After all, it was rather creepy that someone just hid in the bushes while a battle raged in front of them. However, after Takuya left and released his bindings, she could see why he had been hiding.
The stranger introduced himself as a Vizard. Obviously he wasn’t the sharpest zanpacto in Seireitei. And what was worse is that he was a deserter; one who fled the Soul Society to live in the human realm. Man. How thick can you get? the young woman wondered, staring blankly at the hollow possessed stranger with his back turned to her. Through all her training, she had learned that those who abandoned Seireitei were enemies, so she prepared to pull off her first assassination.
Hidden behind the veil of leaves about 5 meters behind her target, a single shunpo would carry her from her perch directly behind her target; her ninjato pressed outwards in an attempt to thrust the cold blade into his back. With a substantial knowledge of anatomy, her strike was aimed at the heart of the hybrid abomination. Her reiatsu was still repressed, and her mastery over Hoho would make her motion difficult if not impossible to trace. Though it wasn’t inherently evident, she was slightly his superior in rank, stacking another card in her favor. Would this unfortunate yet foolish Vizard meet his end by her blade?

[/sup] Division Shinigami, who probably isn't even seated. What can one expect from the generation these days. I noticed that the girl had left her perch, but were could she be. I thought as I carefully examined the area around me. If I'm not careful she might Shunpo around me and go for an attack, but I doubt it, the audacity to attack is purposefulness even if she were desperate to make a name for her self in the Seireitei. I looked around at the tree as I turned around I witnessed the young lady harrowing at me. With her Zanpakutou aimed directly at him. With this evidence, I grabbed for my Zanpakutou and pointed it to hers nearly cutting into my shirt in the process. I swiped at her feeble sword and nearly escaped her grasp with a Shunpo [ 3/8 ]. I didn't go far about ten meters from my original standing. As I leaned on the tree I said with exhaustion, " What the Fuck Lady, are you trying to get your self killed?" Seriously this Bitch needs some serious help she was going to stab me. " Never in my life, my life. Have I ever been almost assassinated before."[/ul]

Urm. I actually have a problem with your last post.
Previously, you stated that "you were unsure where my location was." In my post after that, I said i was directly behind you, and that I used a Hoho master level Shunpo to get behind and stab you. With my reiatsu repressed and using that level of speed, I'm not even sure how you were able to analyze the situation, brandish your sword and then shunpo away before I plunged my sword into your body.
Honestly, if your gonna show up in a thread shouting "Im a Vizard who Deserted Seireitei. Lets be friends" you should be better prepared x:
